Guest Post: MetroNet, a review.

many of you may or may not know I have been waiting for MetroNet to arrive in Tacoma Hills since I moved here. With that, I have also been the one pestering them for updates every week to find out when service would finally arrive.

Needless to say, once they let me know they were able to get me connected, I jumped on it; and I think I was one of the, if not the first, in Tacoma Hills to get connected. With all that being said, I know I have spoken highly about them to many of you in person, and I thought I would give a quick rundown on my experience with them so far.

I depend on the internet for work as I have been working from home since 2010 for various internet companies, so fast, reliable internet has been high on my list of things that I can not live without. I have been a long-time Xfinity customer using their highest residential tier internet that they offered, all for a small fortune, as Xfinity is not known for being cheap. And while the internet worked well, outside of the cost, it certainly had its hiccups with slower-than-expected speeds, poor customer service, and on occasion, some downtime.

When making the switch to MetroNet, the technician came to my home and while I had bit of a complicated install (I have my home office in the basement which required some extra fiber to be connected) the whole install was done within an hour and I was up and running.

They also offer for free a new wireless router for your home, which uses the newest Wifi-6 technology so that any of your capable wireless devices will get the fastest connection possible in your home!

Since my installation which was on Oct 8th, we have had no downtime at all, and the service has been very stable with no fluctuations in speeds like I saw with Xfinity. We use a lot of streaming services in our household, and it seems like no matter how many devices we have streaming, everything looks crystal clear and starts playing faster than I recall. The kids also seem to have fewer complaints when it comes to their online gaming (Not complaining about any “lag”).

Overall we have been very happy about the switch not only from a speed and reliability standpoint but also from the cost savings, which in this day and age any dollar that can be saved is awesome!

If you have made the switch or have questions about switching to MetroNet I would love to hear from you! You can email me directly at [email protected].
